“Dear Joe Colombo, you taught us about the future” is an exhibition that GAM, the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Milan dedicated to Joe Colombo, an architect and designer who was able to anticipate the future through an approach to design that was revolutionary in its impact.
On the exhibition route we come across the Isola Orange carpet from Amini, inspired by the technical patterns designed by Colombo to fit out the Hoecht stand for the Düsseldorf plastics trade fair in 1970. The carpet was selected because the colors, shapes and lines perfectly reflect the futuristic visions of this brilliant, modern designer.
“Designers will no longer just draw with a pencil, they will create in partnership with technicians, scientists, professors and doctors and, in the fairly near future, even electronic brains.” — Joe Colombo
