Showroom Amini, Milan – Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua, Venice
Amini has officially inaugurated the exhibition Classico Italiano, in the city of Venice. Within the walls of the historical weaving mill of Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua, a fine selection of carpets is now on display. Guests will have the pleasure to witness important phases of the carpet making, conducted through original eighteenth-century looms.
There are countless treasures dotted around the Lagoon, rare are the production companies still active today as they were in the past. Among them, Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua. Here, Ferid Amini, as curious and passionate as ever, has set his sights. Brief exchanges, passed on by word of mouth, have brought him to this workshop, overlooking the Grand Canal. «I wanted to see for myself this unique place where they still make brocades and precious velvets», Ferid Amini recalls. «I understood straight away that in the Bevilacqua archive I would find what I had spent ages looking for».
A unique workshop, equipped with original eighteenth-century jacquard looms, the same ones once belonged to Scuola della Seta, purchased by Luigi Bevilacqua himself back in 1875. The most precious treasure of Tessitura Bevilacqua is its historical archive: an exclusive source of inspiration that, through a passionate collaboration between the two realities, it allows to translate into carpets the fascination of the Venetian Renaissance tradition.
