Macchine Inutili

Pink
The project takes shape from the combination of simple, thin sheets of screen-printed aluminum – with a touch of color on both sides – which give life to a kinetic sculpture, where the form in space is not predefined but develops unpredictably. Suspended works of art that, at first glance, suggest a specific function but, upon closer inspection, reveal their “uselessness” and challenge the logic of traditional design. The eponymous collection presented by Amini includes three color variants representing frames of the same rotating Macchina Inutile, narrating a moment of its kinetic nature: the slow evolution of these abstract geometric figures, even with a breath of wind, thus comes to life in carpets expertly hand-knotted with precious wool and silk. The colors – yellow, pink, gray, red, and blue – are taken directly from Munari’s visual universe, to deliver a work that is both a citation and a reinterpretation.

Care & Maintenance
A correct handling and small daily attentions ensure that you may preserve over time the tactile and aesthetic qualities of the carpet. In addition to the quality of the cleaning, which must strictly be professional in case of handmade carpets, there are a number of important recommendations to be made. A few inconveniences may occur soon after first buying a hand-crafted carpet for the first time. Recognizing them and knowing how to deal with them can help you prevent irreversible damage.
Obtained from the shearing of sheep bred at over three thousand meters of altitude in uncontaminated environments, Tibetan wool is sorted, carded and spun by hand according to ancient tradition. From this procedure a strong yarn is obtained, with a soft and luminous texture, used by Amini for hand knotted carpets.

Thinking without preconceived patterns
Few artists or designers have championed imagination quite like Bruno Munari. At the heart of his approach was always the idea of freeing thought from rigid, pre-set patterns. Inspired by this mindset, and in homage to Munari’s vision, Amini presents a special installation curated by David Dolcini. It brings together a selection of Munari’s works alongside two new rug collections, both inspired by his iconic creations: the book Viaggio nella Fantasia, Flight of Fancy and his Macchine Inutili, Useless Machines.
