The Abraham & Wolff Gallery meets Amini

The TAPIZOO collection, designed by Gabetti&Isola in 1970, will be presented by Amini at the exhibition dedicated to the architect and designer duo from Turin at the Abraham and Wolff Gallery in Paris during the new edition of M&O.

The famous TAPIZOO collection, designed by Gabetti&Isola in 1970 and remodelled by Amini in 2023, on display from January 16 at the Abraham & Wolff Gallery in Paris. The Gabetti and Isola – Another Modernism showcase, created in conjunction with Maison&Objet and Paris Dèco Home, is dedicated to the architect and designer duo from Turin who distinguished themselves back in the fifties for their original and avant-garde vision.

Roberto Gabetti and Aimaro Isola conceived their projects as complete works of art, designing furniture, lamps and carpets as an extension of their architectural principles. In a perpetual search for a harmonious dialogue between buildings and their urban context, their style features pure lines, bold geometric shapes and the combined use of modern and traditional materials.

Along with other iconic furnishing elements launched by this duo, the Abraham & Wolff Gallery in Paris will host the bold rugs from the TAPIZOO collection, designed to furnish the residential apartments of the Western Olivetti Residential Unit in Ivrea. Originally crafted using a semi-mechanical loom, these pure wool rugs have been remodelled by Amini – based on the design project of Lodovico Gabetti and Fabrizio Pellegrino – and presented at the Salone del Mobile 23 in a new hand knotted version.

Amini sees this as a significant opportunity, thrilled that the results of the meticulous research, aimed at reviving iconic pieces that have shaped the history of Italian design, will be showcased in this exhibition amidst the exciting atmosphere generated by Maison&Objet.

The rugs on display feature four different animals: a leopard (Tapipardo) in an orange colour on a blue background; a lion (Tapileo) in an ochre colour on a yellow background; a bear (Tapiorso) in a white colour on an ivory background and a dragon (Tapidrago) in a green colour on a white background. The latter, unlike the others, is divided into four equal parts and can be composed according to the different installation requirements: as a hallway runner to enhance an entrance or a corridor, or as a rug, the perfect leading player in any living area.
