Showroom Amini, via Borgogna 7, Milan
December 6th 2022 – January 9th 2023
Amini is presenting an exhibition dedicated to a selection of fine Afghan wool carpets hand carded and twisted, made in villages of northern Afghanistan, where symbols and knotting techniques are passed down from family to family, and differ in each village. Amini’s Afghan looms are certified by Label Step, demonstrating its on-going commitment to economic, environmental and social sustainability.
Dialoguing with the carpets’ archaic motifs are the Immacolata chair by Henry Timi and ceramic sculptures by Japanese master Yasuhisa Kohyama, courtesy of Fondazione Officine Saffi.
Each carpet is unique in terms of size, shape and color. The warm tones of the wools and the traditional symbols reflect the connection between the land, nature and the Afghan people.
